Institution descriptionThe Department of Academic Affairs at the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University invites applications for the full-time, benefit-eligible position of Assistant Director, Office of Academic Assessment and Effectiveness. This position serves an integral role in working collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, and academic committees/groups in the areas of teaching effectiveness, curricular effectiveness, and institutional effectiveness including student outcomes assessment, institutional accreditation, specialized accreditation, and disciplinary program review.
Job dutiesAcademic Technologist/Analyst
1. Maintain a records management system to ensure effective collection, coding, retrieval, analysis, and retention of all projects and documentation maintained by the Office.
2. Maintain and operate survey programs as required for the processing of assessment and student course evaluation forms.
3. Maintain the Office and Accreditation web pages. Facilitate and support department/program assessment webpage development and maintenance.
4. Provide support and assistance for artifact submission and completion of assessment and data analysis for departments and programs.
5. Locate and compile information and format reports, graphs, table records and other sources of information in support of academic and institutional student outcomes assessment and program review.

Academic Assessment/Improvement
1. Support faculty, staff and students in establishment of learning goals and student outcomes assessment methodology. Develop, lead, and participate in faculty development opportunities in assessment and outcome improvement.
2. Plan, design, implement, analyze and report on academic student outcomes assessment and program review, as assigned.
3. Collaborate with faculty and staff in the development of departmental and program student outcomes assessment plans.
4. Conduct basic research on academic and institutional student outcomes assessment and program review.
5. Assist academic departments with the collection and analysis of student outcomes assessment for departmental program review.
6. Assist in departmental and institutional accreditation.
7. Act as liaison for the Chair of the Academic Policies, Standards and Assessment Committee (APSAC) regarding data requests; assist with organization of APSAC meetings and documents.
8. Collaborate with other stakeholders in the collection and analysis of the assessment of institutional (and others, upon request) learning outcomes.

Office Management
1. Order and secure student outcomes assessment, program review, and testing materials as appropriate to meet operational needs.
2. Assist the Director in review and management of the Office budget and supporting documentation.
3. Manage the Office; respond to inquiries from internal and external clientele.
4. Represent the Director/Office at meetings, conferences, and institutional committees, as assigned.
5. Hire, train, assign, mentor, and supervise student workers in collaboration with the Academic Affairs Office staff.
6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Academic Affairs leadership.
Qualifications1. Master's degree in a relevant field with demonstrated experience in online data management. This includes work in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel), website development, and other online storage systems.
2. Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research.
3. Demonstrated knowledge in best practices in assessment and student learning.
4. Effective organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
5. Demonstrated excellence in communication, presentation and inter-personal relations skills.
6. Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
7. Demonstrated training and extensive knowledge in assessment and implementation of effective assessment practices preferred.
8. Professional experience in designing, conducting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting academic research, student outcomes assessment and/or disciplinary program review research preferred.
Salary range$40,000 - $60,000

Employees are eligible for coverage in the health insurance plan on the first of the month following date of hire. The Plan also uses a preferred provider network system where discounts are applied when utilizing health care providers in the network. Care received outside of the preferred provider network is covered, but at a higher cost to the employee and the institution.

DENTAL INSURANCE

AFLAC SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE
This voluntary plan offers an additional level of financial protection for you and your family in the event of a serious accident or illness.

LIFE INSURANCE
CSB/SJU provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy to employees. This insurance is effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount of term insurance provided is based on your annual salary as follows.
Employer provided life insurance in excess of $50,000 is subject to imputed income tax (a tax on the value of the premium). You may also purchase additional life insurance in increments of one, two, three, or four times your annual salary. There is also a dependent life insurance package available.

LONG-TERM DISABILITY
After one year of benefit eligible employment, CSB/SJU provides disability coverage in the event of an illness or injury that prevents you from working. This plan provides a benefit that equals 60% of your basic monthly earnings to a maximum monthly benefit of $11,000.

VACATION
Paid vacation is accrued based upon FTE and the number of years employed. Vacation is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 240 hours.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS
HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT
These plans allow employees to set aside part of their salary on a pre-tax basis to pay for IRS approved expenses.

VISION PLAN
This voluntary plan offers affordable vision coverage for routine eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lenses. Discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are also included.

TUITION REMISSION
Tuition remission is an educational benefit provided by CSB/SJU. A full time employee and spouse (if applicable) are eligible for tuition free educational benefits the first full semester after six months of employment. The payment of special fees is the responsibility of the employee. Full time employees may enroll for one undergraduate course per term, which includes summer; up to a maximum of 2 courses per year.

There is also a tuition remission program for dependent children of full time employees. This program provides a financial resource to a son or daughter for meeting the tuition costs of undergraduate education. Eligibility begins the fall or spring semester following 5 years (60 months) of continuous full-time employment. CSB/SJU will grant tuition remission the next full semester to the dependent, providing the dependent meets the academic requirements. There are also two consortia programs in which CSB/SJU participate where employees' children may apply for scholarships to attend other colleges/universities.

PARENTAL LEAVE
A paid leave (up to 15 days) will be granted to eligible employees upon the birth or adoption of a child, pro-rated based on FTE. New employees are eligible for this benefit after twelve months of employment.

SICK LEAVE
Full-time employees earn up to 9 days of sick leave per year, pro-rated based on FTE. Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days). Employees may also use accumulated personal sick leave to care for ill family members.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free counseling resource available to all employees and immediate family members. EAP counselors can help you identify problems and concerns regarding family, marriage, emotions, alcohol or drugs, financial difficulties, legal issues and job stress. All contacts between you, your family, and the EAP are provided as a benefit from CSB/SJU and are kept strictly confidential.

RETIREMENT
Defined Contribution Plan
CSB/SJU provides a retirement program for all qualified full time employees. The program is administered by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA).

Enrollment in the retirement plan will be effective the first day of the month following the date of hire unless the employee elects to opt-out.

Supplemental Tax Deferred Annuity Plan
In addition to the regular plan, a benefit eligible employee may voluntarily elect to contribute to this plan.

TUITION ASSISTANCE
The tuition assistance plan is an educational grant provided by CSB/SJU to a qualified son or daughter of a full time employee toward meeting the tuition costs at Saint John's Preparatory School. The dependent must meet the eligibility criteria in order to receive this grant.
