Sidney Suslow Award

The Sidney Suslow Award recognizes an AIR member for distinguished scholarly contributions to institutional research over a significant period of time. While the Suslow Award may be presented for a single piece of scholarly work, recipients are more often recognized for their cumulative and ongoing efforts to keep institutional research on the cutting edge of research, practice, policies, and procedures in higher education.

Nominees for the Sidney Suslow Award need not be members of AIR but should meet the following criteria:
  1. The scholarly work of the nominee clearly is of importance to institutional research, institutional planning, or to policy-making in higher education.
  2. The scholarly work of the nominee represents significant, original, and/or creative adaptive contributions or applications to institutional research/higher education.
  3. The scholarly work is broadly recognized as being of high quality in its conceptual framework, its presentation and development of relevant ideas and practice, and its implications and applications for institutional research and higher education.
Nominations should include supporting documentation, including the candidate's curriculum vitae and three supporting letters of recommendation.
