e- AIR January 2012

JANUARY 2012 NEWSLETTER | A SERVICE OF AIR SINCE 1987
Welcome to the New e-AIR Newsletter
After nearly a quarter century of service to the higher education community, e-AIR deserved a makeover. Going forward, the newsletter will be a tool to preview all the great content that sits on the e-AIR pages of our upgraded website. New resources will be added weekly and highlighted in each month's newsletter. You'll find something new every time you log on. Check out two new features this month - Resource Reviews (peer-reviews of books, reports, websites, and papers) and Special Features (member interviews of other members and people of interest). We invite you to give the new format a test drive. We hope you'll find it to be a dramatic improvement in accessibility, interaction, presentation, and educational value. So please take a look, click around and enjoy the new e-AIR.

Change is in the AIR

It is hard to believe, but we have already completed the first six months under the new AIR Board structure, and progress is being made! This experience is testing all of us on the Board in our ability to think outside systems we are used to and ways of thinking we are used to. I am really pleased with what we are accomplishing and how we are learning to work with each other. MORE

Institutional Dashboards: Navigational Tool for Colleges and Universities

As information and data are more readily available than ever, it is critical for higher education institutions to develop tools that communicate essential information to decision makers in a simple format. One such tool is a dashboard, which presents critical information in a succinct, visually appealing design. Just as an automobile dashboard helps drivers navigate the highway, institutional dashboards are tools to help guide an organization. This article takes an in-depth look at dashboards in practice.
