The college district serves a population of 800,000 in the west end of the vibrant Inland Empire of San Bernardino County, where the communities of Chino, Chino Hills, Fontana, Guasti, Montclair, Mt. Baldy, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga (Alta Loma, Cucamonga, and Etiwanda) and Upland are located. Four high school districts are contained in these communities.

THE COLLEGE
Chaffey College, one of the first colleges to be established in California, is a two-year public community college situated in an area of natural and tranquil beauty in Southern California. The Rancho Cucamonga campus occupies 200 acres of rolling lawns and native foliage in the foothills of the majestic San Gabriel Mountains. Founded in 1883 as a private college, Chaffey has been a publicly funded college since 1916. Chaffey courses are offered at the college’s three campuses in Rancho Cucamonga, Chino, and Fontana.

Job Duties: Under the general supervision of the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent/President and the specific direction of the Director of Institutional Research, the Professional Expert-Researcher collects, analyzes and reports data in support of the Chaffey College Mission Statement.

Scope of Assignment
Major responsibilities include: data collection and analyses using data sets from Federal, State and local agencies; reporting on student achievement in occupational programs; and research in support of Career Technical Education (CTE) programs.

All descriptive and advanced statistical techniques are applied in accordance with sound research practices.

Responsibilities
• With assistance and training provided by Chaffey College Office of Institutional Research staff, generate needs assessment studies for all Career Technical Education (CTE) degree and certificate granting programs. Needs assessments will include but are not limited to:

• Identifying the appropriateness of the program mission, including relevant position descriptions and program requirements, educational and training needs as determined by business and industry standards

• Identifying program need, including enrollment and completer projections, estimated annual student enrollment, estimated annual student completers, and degrees and certificates awarded

• Identifying similar programs offered at other institutions and proximity of other institutions to Chaffey College

• Conduct a labor market analysis, including identifying wage information in relevant occupations, estimated employment projections and job openings, county and metropolitan statistical area (MSA) employment outlooks, local employment training needs, and potential regional employers.

• Conduct employer surveys, obtaining nformation from current and prospective employers of program completers

• Conduct program completer surveys, obtaining information from degree and certificate and earners and program graduates following program completion
• Identification of student training needs, including Identification of student job placement rates and scores on licensure exams

• Develop and maintain project databases for analysis of program patterns and trends.

• Assist the Director of Institutional Research in dissemination, collection, analysis, and reporting Career Technical Education Act surveys.

• Assist the Director of Institutional Research in verifying the integrity of data used to determine the District’s Career Technical Education allocation

• Develop and maintain a collection of data and reports to support district research activity in Career Technical Education (CTE).

• Prepare written reports with accompanying tabular, graphic, and statistical contents; descriptions of analytical methods used; and narrative of results and conclusions.

• Attend research-related meetings, workshops, and conferences as appropriate.

• Perform related duties as assigned

Length and Conditions of Employment
This is a professional expert contract position that is made possible through Chaffey College District allocation of Carl D. Perkins Career Technical Education Act (Perkins IV) in support of relevant research activity. The individual selected for this position will be employed up to forty (40) hours per week through June 30, 2009. Continued employment beyond June 30, 2009 is contingent upon continued available funding and approval of the Chaffey College Governing Board.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess qualifications including education and experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the job duties as described above.

Salary/Benefits: The candidate selected for this position will be compensated at a rate of $25/hour; the position does not include health benefits.
