Job Duties: The School of Arts and Sciences, Rutgers University, New Brunswick invites applications for an Assistant Dean for Assessment within the Office of Undergraduate Education. Reports to the Dean for Educational Initiatives and the Core Curriculum and works collaboratively with academic departments, faculty, and staff and the School of Arts and Sciences Core Requirements Committee to design, develop, and implement flexible and innovative methodologies for assessment of student learning goals set by departments and by the Core Curriculum process. Is responsible for establishing and maintaining a culture of assessment in the School of Arts and Sciences and effectively compiling the results and disseminating them to diverse populations within and outside the university. Qualifications: Requires a master’s degree in relevant field with graduate work in research design and analysis and at least three years full-time experience in higher education involved with assessment. Also requires demonstrated knowledge of current research and best practices in the area of assessment of student learning, program evaluation, quantitative and qualitative research methods, research design, and statistical analysis; demonstrated understanding of trends and issues in higher education, preferably as they relate to undergraduate liberal arts education in a public AAU research university; interpersonal skills necessary to ensure collaborative relationships and outcomes with academic department chairs, faculty, and administrators; and strong organizational, project management, and presentation skills.
