Job Duties: The Director of Research Support Services is responsible for the direction and coordination of systems and processes related to Research Support Services. As part of the Office of Institutional Research, direct the implementation of district-wide information and reporting strategies related to Research Support Services. This includes direct responsibility for district-wide processes related to internal surveys, course evaluation, program review and other assessment initiatives, and surveys and ad hoc requests for data from stakeholders and external agencies. Actively support the development of a research agenda focused on developing a culture of inquiry essential to achieving the institution’s vision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide supervision and direction of departmental functions and activities. Develop systems that meet on-going institutional needs for information.
• Collaborate with faculty, administration and staff to implement the district’s on-going institutional research agenda.
• Oversee the collection of data and creation of reports related to requests for information from external and internal constituencies.
• Provide direction for the production of on-going reports, including maintaining a comprehensive calendar reflecting the needs of various institutional groups.
• Conduct studies related to institutional priorities including research design, statistical analysis, and written reports. the results.
• Direct processes related to the evaluation of courses (SEOI) including the distribution of forms, analysis of data, and dissemination of results.
• Coordinate the development of electronic data and reporting strategies related to Research Support Services.
• Provide data and reports related to program review and other internal assessment processes.
• Oversee external reporting for IPEDS, SACS, and other agencies. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
EDUCATION Master’s degree in education, social sciences, business administration, information science, statistics or related field required. Doctoral degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE Five (5) years experience in institutional research, effectiveness or planning in a higher education setting.
Three (3) years of management or supervisory experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to higher education, especially community colleges.
Must be familiar with student data reporting requirements of THECB and federal government (IPEDS)
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft or equivalent enterprise-wide resource information system
Must have a working knowledge of internal and external data sources and their application to program review and other internal processes
Strong analytical skills and knowledge of statistical procedures
Demonstrated knowledge of survey development and analytical techniques
Must demonstrate a strong service orientation
