UL Lafayette is a Carnegie Doctoral University (with high research activity) with over 16,000 students and approximately 600 permanent faculty. The University offers 79 baccalaureate degree programs, 29 master's degree programs, and doctorates in nine disciplines. Located midway between New Orleans and Houston, Lafayette is the heart of Louisiana's Acadian-Creole region. Job Duties: In collaboration with other campus leaders, the newly created position of Executive Director guides the University’s efforts to establish its strategic initiatives, evaluate institutional effectiveness, and conduct program assessment. The Executive Director, who reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, has primary responsibility for:
• assisting academic colleges with designing and implementing assessments of learning outcomes in both general education and specific degree programs at all levels; • coordinating institution-wide standardized assessments and surveys (both internally-generated and proprietary); • supporting institutional accreditation and related enhancement initiatives; • facilitating implementation and tracking accomplishment of the University’s Strategic Plan; • coordinating the institution’s participation in state and national assessment initiatives (e.g., VSA’s College Portrait and Carnegie’s Community Engagement Classification); • recommending institutional responses, goals, and strategic initiatives based on analysis of assessment results; • developing and implementing processes to assess incoming student learning in transfer and special student populations; and • assisting Enrollment Management and all support services areas with their strategic planning and assessment processes.
The Executive Director oversees and collaborates with the Director of the Office of Institutional Research, which compiles data and reports as required by the University. Qualifications: Doctoral preparation in program evaluation, planning, assessment, or directly related field from a regionally accredited institution preferred. Minimum of a master’s degree required, as is professional administrative experience in a higher education setting. Past experience as a faculty member desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are imperative, as are IT application skills with statistical and database programs. Ability to build consensus and to collaborate collegially is vital to success in this position.
