Job Duties: Join small team of research analysts in the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment (OIRA) to assist in the preparation of varied institutional reports regarding varied institutional data in a timely and effective manner.
Generate data, reports, and analyses using varied institutional data for topics such as student enrollment, student assessment, enrollment management, course evaluation, program review, institutional effectiveness, marketing, public relations, etc.
Prepare responses and complete varied federal surveys such as the IPEDS, and surveys from other external organizations, such as Peterson's Guide and U.S. News and World Report.
Generate and edit descriptive and analytic reports regarding varied institutional data using applications such as SAS, SPSS and/or MS Office applications (MS Access, MS Excel, and MS Word).
Build queries to extract, store, and analyze data from enterprise data systems (e.g., PeopleSoft/Oracle) using relevant software.
Develop, code, and document ad hoc and persistent report-generating programs and procedures.
Respond to internal and external requests for institutional information.
Provide high-quality products accurately and within assigned deadlines. Qualifications: Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Social or Behavioral Science with two years of employment in a professional setting or equivalent.
General computer programming experience and skills. Experience with MS Office applications (MS Access, MS Excel), relevant database (e.g., Oracle, MS Access) and quantitative analytic software (e.g., SAS, SPSS).
Demonstrated strong customer service skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated strong attention to detail involving data, database, and documentation.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Master's degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Social or Behavioral Science with 2 years of employment in a professional setting, higher education setting, or equivalent.
Advanced experience with large, complex relational databases.
Advanced experience in querying in enterprise data systems (e.g., PeopleSoft), web applications programming, Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel) and SAS.
Strengths in problem solving, critical thinking, and data analyses/statistical analyses.
Demonstrated effectiveness in presenting report findings, both orally and in written form, to a variety of audiences.
