The Master of Arts in Teaching degrees offered by SCAD are approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Job Duties: SCAD seeks qualified applicants for a director of assessment. The person in this position will serve as the leader of the institution's overall assessment efforts. The director of assessment will function within the department of institutional effectiveness, will supervise four assessment coordinators and will report to the vice president for institutional effectiveness. The director of assessment is responsible for overall assessment planning and organizing. He or she is also responsible for monitoring and providing feedback on the assessment activities of each program and/or unit annually as well as collecting, tracking and reporting assessment data. The director of assessment plans, organizes, facilitates and monitors the assessment of general education. He or she is responsible for planning workshops and other development activities for faculty and chairs on good practices in assessment within art and design disciplines. The director is a member of the Institutional Review Council; the college's advisory body on institutional effectiveness; the General Education Council; and chairs the College Assessment Council. Qualifications: Master's degree required, Ed.D. or Ph.D. preferred. A minimum of three years of successful supervisory experience is required. Experience in and knowledge of the theory and practice of academic assessment in higher education required. Academic background including coursework in research methods and design, statistical analysis, qualitative analysis and tests and measurements strongly preferred; faculty experience in an art or design discipline is a definite plus. Skills in qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis and reporting are required. The position requires experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, and use of statistical analysis tools such as SAS or SPSS. Experience with administrative software packages such as SCT Banner and relational database query tools strongly preferred, as is experience with online assessment tracking systems.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are vital to success in this position. Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to execute multiple goals and plans within a fast-paced, team-oriented entrepreneurial organization is required, as are outstanding oral, written and presentation skills in English.
