Job Duties: Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Academic Planning and Educational Effectiveness, the Director 1) Develops and oversees an interactive data warehouse; 2) Responds to all data requests from the Chancellor’s Office; 3) Oversees academically-related institutional research that supports the University’s management and decision-making process; 4) Provides data support for the academic program review and accreditation processes; 5) Coordinates the administration of student surveys, the analysis and publication of results, and the maintenance of a survey response database; 6) Coordinates analytical studies stemming from the University’s academic research needs and prioritizes and implements research requests from academic administrators; 7) Provides support for an on-going academic strategic planning process; 8) Supervises the work of the research analysts and staff of the AIR office.
The Director will be responsible for developing a unit of institutional research that specifically supports the University’s commitment to enrollment management, administrative management, assessment, and teaching effectiveness. This responsibility will include working cooperatively with the Provost’s management team, deans of the nine colleges, faculty, Academic Senate, support staff, and other appropriate personnel in developing and maintaining a data-base that supports the University’s assessment requirements and academically-related analytical studies. Axiomatic to this work will be the development of a website that houses the AIR database and an institutional portfolio with data and analysis that transparently documents the University’s commitment and success in demonstrating educational effectiveness. Qualifications: Applicants for this position should possess the following: 1) detailed knowledge of database systems and website development; 2) knowledge and experience in coordinating institutional research endeavors in the academic arena; 3) ability to understand both micro-level and macro-level needs involved in institutional research and analysis; 4) an earned master’s or doctorate from an accredited institution; 5) successful experience at the college or university level; 6) effective leadership, management, organizational, and communication skills; 8) ability to work collaboratively with all campus units; and 9) ability to interact effectively in a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
