Job Title: GRANTS MANAGER - Volunteer State Community College, Gallatin, TN Deadline Date: Open Until Filled Starting Date: June 1, 2009 Institution: Volunteer State Community College is a public two-year community college in Gallatin, Tennessee, just north of Nashville, serving approximately 7,000 students across a twelve-county region area including the counties of Clay, Davidson, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale and Wilson. Job Duties: This position will provide assistance to College employees seeking external grant funding by serving as the clearinghouse for all grant proposals. Examples of essential job functions of this position are:
* Facilitate the mechanics of the planning process of proposal development by convening appropriate groups to develop and write grants; * Research, identify, and provide information on potential sources of funds and publicize requests for proposals; * Provide information concerning the College and community and assist with the development of budget and statistical data to support grant proposals; * Review drafts and final grant proposals and coordinate final packaging of proposals for shipment; * Provide assistance and direction in the administration of grants and monitor the budget for proper use of funds; * Develop and write grant proposals and conduct grant writing workshops for faculty and staff; * Maintain knowledge of sponsor agencies including funding opportunities, policies and program changes; * Maintain grant files and insure audit-ready records; * and develop and maintain a database of proposals and a tracking system to monitor grant status.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with two to four years of related experience or an equivalent mix of experience and academic credentials; Knowledge of grant funding regulations and of producing a high volume of grant proposals; Good analytical and strong organizational skills and ability to understand and interpret complex guidelines quickly and accurately; Detail oriented, and ability to relate to a variety of individuals; Excellent written and oral communication skills, time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines; Demonstrated proficiency in software applications including Microsoft Word.
