Job Duties: The Director of Institutional Research plans, develops and manages a rich data system, including publications and web-based deliveries, to provide campus-wide information to the departments and the administration for decision making. Typical reports and publications are fact books, enrollment and staffing reports, degrees awarded and credit hours.
The director responds to national surveys such as those from IPEDS, Common Data Set, the Voluntary System of Accountability, AAU faculty salaries, U.S. News and World Report and the Delaware Study.
The director builds and submits databases on faculty and graduate assistants and their academic activities and courses and credit hours for submission to the Florida Board of Governors regarding the use of academic resources and analyses of costs and efficiencies.
The director manages a semester by semester effort reporting and certification system for faculty and graduate assistants for meeting the State of Florida’s minimum required contact hours for instructional and other academic functions per full-time faculty. The system, managed in partnership with the contracts and grants office, is also used to meet federal effort reporting requirements.
The director conducts studies on student retention and program completion and persistence; assists with enrollment planning and multi-year projections; develops periodic alumni surveys; assists with institutional planning and analysis and responds to ad-hoc needs and requests for data and data analysis.
The director assists with information for the quality enhancements reviews (QERs) of all academic departments and degree programs done on an annual revolving basis.
The director is expected to anticipate and develop information and data interpretation for related decision making, strategic planning and accountability.
The University uses the PeopleSoft systems for financials, human resources and payroll and is considering options to the legacy student systems. The primary University and Board of Governors databases are in Oracle. Qualifications: Requires a Masters Degree in an appropriate field and six (6) years of experience in institutional research or related field or a Bachelors Degree in an appropriate field and eight (8) years of experience in institutional research or related field.
Preferred: Doctorate degree in related field not required but preferred. Working knowledge of the data definitions and systems used by the State of Florida Board of Governors and National surveys is preferred.
Requirements: Strong knowledge of and experience utilizing database, statistical and spreadsheet and other software packages; strong analytical, writing and presentation skills and a demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate and work with various groups.
