Job Duties: This position reports to the Assistant Director, Learning Systems within the Educational Technology & Support Services section of Planning and Knowledge Management.

Responsible for creating and delivering just in time training to faculty members and professional colleagues in course management systems and software.

Degree can be in higher education with a focus on educational technology, IO psychology, curriculum and instruction, instructional design, instructional technology, or other technical degrees. Experience with multimedia development and instructional design experience is very important.

Advanced computing, troubleshooting, understanding of course management systems and software. Software can include Online Web software selected by the College of Medicine, Blackboard, Tufts software, SharePoint, ePortfolio, HTML, Adobe products, Dreamweaver, Flash, Office 2007 products. PC and Mac.

Demonstrated skill and experience in training faculty and professional colleagues.

Strong analytic capabilities and good understanding of educational support that is important to academic health sciences, undergraduate medical education, basic science and clinical research, and clinical professionals.

Position engages and interacts with faculty members to assess pedagogical needs, provide pedagogical guidance and training and works collaboratively with faculty members to ensure the development of appropriate course materials including content presentation, content interaction and student assessment.

Position will assume project leadership in a team of course developers, graphic designers, multimedia producers, and course programmers to develop course materials for the College of Medicine. Some interaction will occur with the Online Web Services group in IT&R.

Position works with the Assistant Director for Learning Systems and others in the Planning and Knowledge Management to ensure faculty members experience seamless, consistent, and successful course development projects in a timely manner.

Position works with team of instructional designers, course developers and multimedia producers in Digital Media Lab at the Lake Nona campus in the COM to provide training and support of course delivery projects.

Position develops and delivers curriculum and training that incorporates multimedia and web applications.

Position analyzes, designs, programs, integrates, or modifies computer functions and applications including several programming languages to produce web sites and online tools that will be deployed as part of our Coll. of Med. courses. The person will need to use DreamWeaver, Pearl, Java, HTML, the Tusk software, SharePoint to take the faculty members' data and images and place them in their web sites, produce their web sites, and support their web site.

Position consults with College of Medicine personnel and faculty to determine necessary functions and applications of multimedia and online web resources for course delivery.

Position evaluates and assesses computer users' needs.

Position recommends hardware and software modifications to accommodate faculty members' needs.

Position maintains appropriate security and data access levels of users.

Position consults with other College of Medicine units in determining information system requirements and modifications.

Position may manage and supervise curriculum development team members.

Position interprets Planning and Knowledge Management departmental rules and policies related to educational technology services systems.

Position recommends new applications to improve information system functions; and operations.

Position designs, develops, and conducts special studies in the assigned functional areas of educational technology services systems.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and one year of information technology experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: The internal/functional title is Instructional Designer.

The College of Medicine is currently located in Research Park and expected to relocate to the Lake Nona Health Sciences Campus in Fall 2010.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Flexible as needed.

Salary/Benefits:
ANNUAL SALARY: $48,054 to negotiable (pay grade 7)
