Job Title: COORDINATOR OF UNDERGRADUATE ASSESSMENT - University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA

Job Duties: The Office of the Provost at The University of Iowa invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Undergraduate Assessment. The Assessment Coordinator will serve as a campus-wide resource on undergraduate assessment and will work with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop, implement, and coordinate assessment of undergraduate student learning. Specific tasks and roles include consultation with individuals and offices on developing appropriate learning outcomes and assessment techniques and tools; monitoring assessment planning and activities in undergraduate education and communicating with the campus community about assessment activities; conducting campus workshops on assessment; consulting with faculty, staff, and administrators on technical aspects of assessment, including data analysis, survey development, and qualitative assessment methods; collaboration with campus leaders to build and sustain a culture of assessment; and consultation with the University Assessment Council on a variety of issues and activities related to assessment of student learning. The Coordinator also will serve as a liaison between the University and the broader postsecondary assessment community.

The Assessment Coordinator position is a 12-month, full-time professional staff position to begin no later than August 3, 2009.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in educational research, higher education, or related field.
• 3-5 years full-time professional experience in outcomes assessment, educational research, and evaluation.
• Knowledge and expertise in principles and practices in student learning outcomes assessment.
• Knowledge and expertise in the development and application of quantitative and qualitative methods of assessment and evaluation, including statistical and data analysis software.
• Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment is required.
• Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and problem-solving skills.

Desired Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree is strongly preferred.
• 1-3 years public speaking and/or postsecondary teaching experience.
• Experience consulting and assisting faculty and staff in developing and sustaining programs of outcomes assessment.
• Eligibility for appointment as an adjunct faculty member.

Salary/Benefits: Salary: $51,565 to commensurate.
