Job Duties: The Executive Director will manage the overall operations of the Institute, establish its goals, and help to plan, develop, and direct research programs and initiatives that will support the Institute’s mission. The Executive Director develops research projects and proposals for funding, conducts research and analyzes data, writes research reports and oversees the publication of all documents, participates in larger UNCF programmatic and fundraising activities, responds to internal and external data and media requests and responds to all directives from the President and CEO and the Senior Vice President of Academic Programs and Strategic Initiatives.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree from an accredited university; Doctoral degree in a specific discipline (e.g., education, psychology, public policy, statistics, sociology, etc.) strongly preferred, with five to ten years of independent research experience; significant experience developing, managing, and publishing research studies and reports; ability to plan, direct, and manage the operations, programs, and staff of a complex and dynamic organization; demonstrated experience developing and executing an external communications and marketing strategy; proven self-starter and quick study who can work independently with a strong entrepreneurial spirit; experience developing and managing budgets; ability to inspire and elicit support and cooperation from diverse constituencies; ability to fundraise and request money confidently from governmental, private, and corporate entities; strategic thinker who is flexible and has sound judgment.
