Institution: City University of New York’s Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) provides data for decision support to the Chancellery. Located in the Office of Academic Affairs, OIRA conducts a wide variety of quantitative analyses to guide policy and to evaluate academic and administrative processes.

Job Duties: The Senior Research Analyst supports analytical and institutional planning efforts at the University level by designing and conducting studies of post-secondary educational outcomes. The Senior Research Analyst manages the design and implementation of quantitative research from developing the methods to interpreting and disseminating the results to a variety of audiences, including staff, collaborators and administrative executives. The Senior Research Analyst leads team efforts on complex projects, providing guidance, structure and training to staff and collaborators and manages department workflows including a portfolio of projects with shifting priorities and deadlines.

The Senior Research Analyst reports to the Director of Analysis and Reporting of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (Deputy Director of IR). Supervises staff as assigned.

Specific responsibilities include study design, dataset development, statistical modeling and analysis, survey research, statistical programming, technical documentation and preparation of tabular and written reports and oral presentations.

Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of experience involving quantitative research, preferably in higher education. A master's degree is preferred. Education above a baccalaureate degree can substitute for up to two years of the required experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

-graduate training in statistics, operations research, psychology, economics, education, sociology, or other area statistical analysis and quantitative research;

-extensive experience with complex data sets including manipulating, merging, restructuring and analyzing large data sets;

-experience in developing and delivering data presentations to diverse audiences;

-strong facility with a statistical package (such as SPSS, SAS or STATA) and/or database query and reporting tools;

-general familiarity with computers, operating systems, and programming structure and logic;

-knowledge of key issues and concepts in higher education.

-excellent written and oral communication skills;

-a commitment to accuracy and an eye for detail;

-the ability to manage multiple short-range and long-term projects simultaneously.
