Job Duties: Loyola Marymount University’s Office of Decision Support, within Academic Planning and Effectiveness has an opening for a Business Intelligence Analyst. The Business Intelligence Analyst will serve as a key team member supporting the implementation of a campus-wide business intelligence/decision support system. This position will interact with the user community to gather and document business requirements, and conduct operational and process analyses with various university departments. Design, code, test and install complex reports, analyses that support decision making and planning at all levels of university functioning. Provide training to end users to maximize their ability to use the decision support system. Provide user assistance and direction for ad hoc data reporting. Assist in defining and maintaining data warehouse metadata and data dictionary.

Qualifications: We seek candidates with typically a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems or related field or equivalent experience. Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information. Strong people management and negotiation skills and the ability to work on cross-functional teams. Highly developed organizational and leadership skills. Knowledge and understanding of key concepts in higher education highly desired. Minimum three years experience with databases or information systems in progressively responsible positions. Experience working in a university setting preferred. Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of data modeling, data extraction, and data analysis. Proficiency with BI querying and reporting tools such as Business Objects, Cognos or Hyperion Brio Intelligence Designer. Knowledge of Oracle database systems a plus.
