Job Title: SUMMER INTERN (Part-time)

Deadline Date: May 18, 2009

Starting Date: End of May, early June

Institution: The College of Lake County is a comprehensive community college offering a wide range of academic program choices to meet students' educational needs at different points in their lives.

Our major program areas include credit programs to prepare students for transfer or career entry, GED and adult basic education, non-credit offerings for personal or career development, and contract training and specialized services for businesses.

Regardless of their focus, our programs emphasize academic excellence and concern with the individual student's goals. Each semester we serve nearly 16,000 credit students, with more than 80 percent enrolled in transfer or career preparation programs.

Located in the far northeastern suburbs of Chicago, our district has a population of almost 650,000 residents, living in more than 50 demographically diverse communities.

Job Duties: The Summer Intern, under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, Planning and Research (IEPR), is responsible for researching and responding to institutional requests for data, supporting research activities of other members of the department, attending departmental meetings, and learning about the work IEPR does as an important administrative unit within an institution of higher education.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of study.
* Experience using statistical computer software.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
* Experience in institutional research, preferably in a community college.
* Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Knowledge of descriptive statistics.
* Experience in writing reports.

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
