The University occupies an impressive 60-hectare site on the northern end of the Clear Water Bay Peninsula. Situated on the slopes along the shore, the campus grounds are terraced to afford buildings on all levels with unobstructed panoramic views of the sea. Job Duties: The University seeks a Head of Planning and Institutional Research to provide leadership and support for the University’s planning processes and decision making efforts. Reporting to the President or member(s) of the senior management group as the President may designate, the incumbent of this newly created position will collaborate with senior administration to guide the University’s planning programs in support of the University’s long-range development and strategic initiatives and to evaluate institutional effectiveness. Duties will include leading a small, expert unit that coordinates institutional planning activities, and conducts institutional studies, surveys and research as needed. The appointee will have the opportunity to build a unit that becomes a proactive and critical resource for the University, particularly in the context of the implementation of the four-year undergraduate degree program and the related increase in student and staff numbers and major capital developments. Qualifications: Applicants should hold a higher degree in a relevant field, and have substantial experience in management information, resource needs assessment and planning and/or institutional assessment and planning, preferably in an institution of higher learning. Knowledge of trends and best practices in assessment, benchmarking and performance indicators in higher education will be a definite asset. Strong written and oral presentation skills are essential. Ability to be self-directed in formulating analytical summaries, findings and recommendations; strong organizational skills; and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people are qualities required. Salary/Benefits: The appointment will be on contract terms initially for 3 years, renewable subject to mutual agreement. Salary will be highly competitive with generous benefits. The level of appointment and title of the position will depend on the qualifications and experience of the appointee.
