Job Title: STATISTICAL RESEARCH ANALYST - Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA

Institution: Morehouse College is the only all male historically black institution of higher education in the United States. A private, four-year, liberal arts college in Atlanta, Georgia, Morehouse is located on a 61-acre campus and has an enrollment of approximately 2,800 students. Job Duties: The Statistical Research Analyst will provide leadership and technical expertise in developing and maintaining Institutional Research component intended to enhance institutional assessment and effectiveness, strategic planning, policy analysis, administrative decision-making, marketing, and institutional and programmatic accreditation efforts. Principal functions are to: 1) Develop and maintain numerous database systems; 2) Compile, analyze, and disseminate an extensive range of institutional data on the web and/or in print; and 3) Serve as a clearinghouse for a vast number of requests and recurring requests for data and information. This position reports to the Director of Assessment and Institutional Research in the area of Administrative Services. Expectations include understanding and supporting the College’s mission and vision and performing duties in order to get the job done with the highest quality and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and regularly disseminating statistical institutional data and information, including the annual publication of Morehouse College Fact Book;

2. Developing and maintaining comprehensive and dynamic database systems including, but not limited to Microsoft Access to collect information for official and/or current institutional reporting;

3. Responding to time-critical ad-hoc requests for data and information to various stakeholders, both internal and external;

4. Responding and/or coordinating periodic surveys, such as IPEDS, Common Data Set, US News, College Board, UNCF, etc. to ensure timely and accurate reporting;

5. Conducting various statistical research studies to provide expertise on students and academic programs focusing on student recruitment, enrollment, retention and graduation, residency, admissions, financial matters, and financial aid, etc;

6. Proposing and gathering internal and external benchmarks, conducting peer analysis, and reporting significant and actionable observations about the College;

7. Consulting and supporting policy and planning groups engaged in strategic planning, institutional self-study and accreditation reaffirmation processes;

8. Performing additional duties as assigned or deemed appropriate and necessary.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS: Master's degree in Management Information Systems or data analysis and research related field preferably with experience in institutional research or data analysis and reporting OR Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or data analysis and research related field with minimum three years' experience in institutional research or data analysis and reporting. Expertise with Relational Database Management System, such as Microsoft Access is necessary and experience with SunGard Higher Education product Banner is preferable. Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, such as Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook; as well as familiarity with research methods and design and statistical analysis using statistical software SPSS. Other requirements are strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple, time-critical projects with conflicting priorities; and high attention to detail, accuracy and documentation.

DESIRED QUALIFICAITONS: The ideal candidate will have expertise in and techno-functional experience with Banner as well as Information Builder’s business intelligence reporting tool, WebFOCUS. Experience with web development or web designing tools, such as Microsoft FrontPage or Adobe Dreamweaver is a plus as well as experience with and appreciation of the issues facing higher education.
