South University offers educational programs at the associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level with campuses located in Columbia, S.C., Montgomery, Ala., Savannah, Ga., Tampa and West Palm Beach, Fla, and Richmond, VA.

Job Duties: This Director role is highly visible and influential, reporting directly to the System Vice President for Academic Affairs, with membership on the University's assessment and strategic planning committees and holding faculty rank.

In response to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) accreditation standards, the Director will design and lead a focused course of action to instill critical thinking skills within the curriculum across the 6 campus organization. This effort will include both directing the restructuring of the curriculum and working closely with the faculty of all disciplines to insure that critical thinking skills are an integral component of instructional activity. This role presents a unique opportunity to inspire and lead faculty, and to use creative problem solving skills in implementing a cohesive plan with measurable goals and objectives.

Responsibilities include:
* Lead the collaborative shaping of the curriculum to include the basic concepts and tools of critical thinking.
* Liaise with faculty across our multi-state, six campus system to help infuse critical thinking in their courses.
* Design and organize faculty development workshops on critical thinking.
* Coordinate teaching for critical thinking in on-line courses.
* Evaluate the success and progress of the QEP on an ongoing basis.
* Develop an orientation and ensure new faculty understand and execute our mission to teach critical thinking across the curriculum.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold a Doctoral degree, and will have prior full-time teaching experience at the college level. ABD, Masters candidates with significant faculty/leadership experience in higher education will also be considered. Competitive candidates must also demonstrate thorough knowledge of critical thinking, including current best practices for teaching and learning through critical thinking.
