Job Duties: The Research Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research provides technical and analytical support for strategic planning, assessment, and administrative decision-making. Responsible for compiling, integrating, and analyzing university data to meet reporting needs by manipulating large data sets. Conducts research studies for use in planning and policy-making decisions by university executives involving: research design, data collection and/or extraction, data integration, analysis, and final report preparation. Builds queries to extract, store, and analyze data from the enterprise data systems (Banner and SAP). Responds efficiently and accurately to internal and external requests and surveys; resolves internal data integrity issues; and prepares accurate and meaningful reports within assigned deadlines. Supports assessment activities within the Office of Institutional Research. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual interested in developing a career in institutional research.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred in social science, business, higher education administration or similar discipline requiring coursework in computer programming, research design, statistics, and data analysis. Minimum of one year experience analyzing large datasets, in a research, analyst or programming position (preferably in a post-secondary educational setting). Experience using databases, business intelligence tools such as Cognos or Brio, and statistical software (SAS and/or SPSS); excellent programming skills. Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet, graphic and/or presentation software. Experience conducting research studies, preparing reports, and summarizing complex data (both quantitative and qualitative). Technical and programming expertise, and knowledge of research design and statistics essential. Excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, organization and problem solving skills also required.
