Job Duties: The University of Wisconsin-Parkside seeks to hire a Director of Assessment and Planning. This is a twelve-month administrative position that reports directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. This person will be responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of an assessment plan and coordinating institutional assessment plans for both academic and administrative areas. This person will build a coherent institutional assessment plan, guide and support departmental assessment and program review efforts, disseminate relevant information to internal and external constituencies and provide leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of assessment activities for strategic planning. The successful candidate will have a leadership role in the University’s preparation for the Higher Learning commission’s reaccreditation process.
Responsibilities: • Serves as a resource person who works directly with administration, deans, chairs and faculty to ensure that assessment plans across the curriculum are specific and accurate in content and effectively inform the University planning processes of departments and programs successes and needs. • Ensures that an effective assessment process is functioning in all academic departments and student services offices. • Provides comprehensive reports on assessment plans with an analysis of the implications for budget, goals, staffing, facilities and equipment needs. • Coordinates the development of University-wide initiatives with curriculum assessment and student outcomes. • Leads the implementation, maintenance, monitoring and evaluation of the goals and objectives of instructional programs. • Collaborates with existing committees and individuals to articulate a plan for institutional assessment, including institutional data (quantitative and qualitative), assessment activities in the General Education program as well as with the work of other relevant committees. • Works cooperatively to assist staff, faculty and administration in all campus offices in carrying out duties and responsibilities and provides consulting support to academic departments and programs in their assessment, program evaluation and accreditation efforts. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Requirements: • Masters degree in educational research and statistics, measurement and evaluation, or in a related field. • Knowledgeable in the theoretical basis of assessment. • At least five years of progressive responsibility in a higher education setting. • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and outcomes assessment, including student learning outcomes assessment. • Knowledge of developmental evaluation and assessment processes. • Excellent analytical and communication skills. • Experience participating in shared governance. • Demonstrated ability to work collegially with diverse constituencies throughout the University.
