Job Duties: The Director for Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership for the College’s Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation effort; the College’s grant-funded Achieving the Dream initiative, and the College’s activities related to Washington State’s Student Achievement Initiative. In addition, this position facilitates faculty driven initiatives to improve student success; oversees the College’s instructional assessment and institutional research functions; and monitors the assignment and completion of activities identified in the College’s annual operational plan. This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
• Coordinate Institutional Effectiveness assessment activities, including administration of standardized student and staff surveys. • Annually oversee and report on achievement levels in relation to the College’s core quality indicators. • Report on effectiveness efforts to the College Executive staff, Board of Trustees, and other college forums as appropriate. • Develop and manage the Institutional Effectiveness budget. Maintain fiscal accountability and control for budgets and reconcile discrepancies. • Serve as Accreditation Liaison Officer to the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), communicating with the Commission on behalf of the College on all regional accreditation matters. • Prepare and submit reports for the NWCCU as required. • Supervise the implementation of Achieving the Dream (AtD) strategies, including facilitating faculty driven initiatives to improve student success. • Communicates on behalf of the College with the AtD coach and data coach; coordinate and host site visits from AtD coach and data coach. • Prepare and submit the AtD annual reports; oversee the publication of AtD research briefs’ and develop, manage, report and reconcile the AtD budget. • Lead the College’s participation in the statewide Student Achievement Initiative. • Communicates on behalf of the College with the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC), and other stakeholders regarding the Student Achievement Initiative. • Monitors College progress of increasing Student Achievement Momentum points. • Hire, supervise, train and mentor the College’s research and program staff. • Collaborate with the Director of Planning & Professional Development in planning and conducting activities to develop the College’s annual operational plan. Report on the status of the operational plan to the College Executive staff, Board of Trustees, and at other College forums as appropriate. • Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. • Experience in higher education administration in the areas of assessment, institutional effectiveness, institutional research, and/or planning.
Preferred Qualifications • Leadership experience developing, implementing and evaluating programs and services. • Accreditation experience.
The Successful Candidate Must Demonstrate • Analytical ability, with attention to detail. • Strong knowledge of best practices in institutional effectiveness, instructional assessment, and research methodology. • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills. • Knowledge of accreditation standards, policies, and processes of the NWCCU. • Strong moral, professional and ethical values. • Demonstrated success working effectively with diverse populations. • Ability to motivate, encourage, and inspire staff. Salary/Benefits: This is a full-time exempt administrative position contracted on an annual basis. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually depending upon education and expereince. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual number of contract days worked in the fiscal year. This position is expected to begin July 1, 2009.
