Institution: Idaho State University is a comprehensive doctoral research university with an annual operating budget of over $250 million. The Office of Institutional Research is located within the Office of the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, which oversees all academic and instructional units within the University. Focused on continuous institutional improvement, the OIR functions as a proactive analytical resource that supports ISU policymakers by compiling, analyzing, and disseminating data related to the University's students, faculty, staff, programs and general operations. A trusted, centralized repository for historical and current information about the University at large, the Office serves as the primary information clearinghouse for ISU, responding to requests for data from internal and external stakeholders and fulfilling the University's compliance reporting requirements at both the federal and state levels.

Job Duties: Director, Office of Institutional Research
Academic Affairs; Non-Classified; Full-time; 12-month appointment.

Idaho State University, a multi-campus, doctoral research university located in Pocatello, Idaho, seeks applications and nominations for the Director of the Office of Institutional Research (OIR). The director reports to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, and has primary responsibility for managing institutional data reporting and analyses, and ensuring that University data are appropriately structured, organized and accessible. The Office of Institutional Research responds to requests from internal and external stakeholders for data and reports, and plays a fundamental role in enhancing the University's ability to develop sound policies and make data-driven decisions in support of the institution's strategic planning activities. The University has recently begun installation of the Banner SunGard Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

The Director will lead the OIR staff in development of systems, programs, and policies to more effectively respond to requests for information and analysis from across the institution, to become the primary resource for information related to the University, and to assist administrators with the strategic analyses needed to make effective and informed management decisions.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
• A Masters degree is required; a doctorate in a social sciences discipline is highly desirable.
• Extensive experience in statistical analysis, research methodology, or a related field with an analytical background is expected.
• Three or more years progressive and professional leadership experience is required, preferably in a higher education institutional research environment; management and/or supervisory experience is preferred.
• Experience with federal reporting requirements (e.g.IPEDS), voluntary national student surveys, and other institutional accountability and assessment reports is essential.
• Experience working in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment (preferably Banner SunGard) is required.
• Proficiency with reporting tools is highly desirable, and experience with ARGOS is preferred.
• Proficiency with statistical analysis software such as SPSS or SAS is required.
• Proven budget administration experience and the ability to forecast fiscal and other resource needs desirable.
• Program assessment experience beneficial.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to design and prepare high-level quantitative and qualitative data analyses and reports.
• Demonstrated expertise using statistical software packages and the application of statistical methods for data collection/acquisition, management, and reporting.
• Experience in survey research, including knowledge of effective survey design and research principles.
• Strong understanding of the functional responsibilities of an office of institutional research and a proven ability to administer, design and effectively maintain an institutional research program at a higher education institution.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with, present information to, and address questions from senior administrative personnel, and other academic and external constituencies.
• Effective organizational and efficient time management skills to meet competing requests for internal support, ad hoc reports, and external reporting requirements.
