Job Title: RESOURCE & POLICY ANALYST - University of Illinois, Urbana, IL Deadline Date: June 12, 2009 Starting Date: July 16, 2009 Institution: University of Illinois Job Duties: The University of Illinois has a full-time opening for a Resource and Policy Analyst. The Resource and Policy Analyst will design, conduct, and interpret new and continuing institutional research or administrative or academic policy studies. The Resource and Policy Analyst will assist in the preparation and documentation of materials for the Illinois Board of Higher Education, federal government and for internal analysis relating to all aspects of student data.
Specific duties include: Conduct analytical studies in response to internal and external data requests, particularly in the areas of: student enrollment, tuition and fees and waivers, financial aid, student related peer comparisons, institutional research related to student data and support of the annual budget request to the State of Illinois.
Prepare responses to various State agency information requests. Participate in institutional data exchange activities. Design and conduct peer comparison studies and other special studies as required. Prepare analyses to meet internal management information needs. Participate in committees as necessary.
Serve as instructional entity Codebook Data Steward, IBHE Program Inventory and CIP Code Reviewer.
Work as a team member to refine the units research agenda based on scanning of national and state trends in key subject areas.
Use existing network/warehouse databases and develop other information resources as needed to support the planning function and satisfy institutional reporting requirements.
Assist in the production of the annual University budget request. Provide background information and respond to technical questions relating to the annual budget request process by the Illinois Board of Higher Education and legislative staffs. Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a discipline that includes quantitative analysis or related discipline and a minimum of one year professional experience in areas related to the duties described above. Experience querying student and financial aid data and experience with academic program code structures is also required. Prior experience in data collection and assessment, statistical analysis, and information management with strong oral and written communication skills is also required. Knowledge and experience in information technology and management information reporting and experience in use of web-based applications, and data base applications, preferably in a networked, client/server environment is required.
Desired qualifications include: Professional experience in University or other public sector planning, budgeting, fiscal, or human resource administration; familiarity with public higher education in Illinois; experience with personal productivity software packages, such as spreadsheets, statistical tools, word processing, electronic mail and project planners; experience accessing distributed databases for use in a networked, client/server environment; experience working with relational databases and a master's degree in a discipline that includes quantitative analysis.
