Job Title: SENIOR RESEARCH ANALYST - Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA Deadline Date: July 1, 2009 Starting Date: Institution: Massachusetts Institute of Technology Job Duties: SENIOR RESEARCH ANALYST, Admissions Office, to collect, analyze, and report on data for admissions in order to provide an empirical and analytical basis to inform recruitment efforts and the selection process and to predict student success. Will work with the dean of admissions and the director of institutional research to develop and conduct evidence-based studies and market surveys to analyze admissions programs and develop enrollment models to guide decision making and strategic planning; provide hands-on data analysis, interpretation of analysis, and preparation of reports for both internal and senior leadership, including annual IPEDS reporting; collaborate with colleagues within the Office of the Dean for Undergraduate Education on other research and analysis as needed; and read and evaluate freshman applications and serve on admissions selection committees. The translation of data into usable information for MIT is a key function of this position. Will report to the dean and serve on the Admissions Office leadership team. Qualifications: A master's degree (doctorate preferred) and at least eight years of progressively responsible work experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in outcomes assessment, data collection, analysis, and report preparation. Seek analytical and strategic thinker who displays discretion and superior judgment. Excellent written and oral communications skills needed, as is demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and administrators. Competence in statistical and analytical research methods and strategic planning required. Should be able to work effectively over sustained periods.
