Coppin State University is a model urban, residential liberal arts university located in the northwest section of the City of Baltimore that provides academic programs in the arts and sciences, teacher education, nursing, graduate studies, and continuing education. Coppin offers 53 majors, and twelve graduate degree programs, over 4,000 students are enrolled in day, evening, on-line, and weekend undergraduate and graduate courses. Job Duties: The Policy Analyst will provide policy and research studies under the direction of the Director of Institutional Research. In an era of public accountability, issues such as retention and graduation, access and affordability, and enrollment demand are highly visible and sensitive. The Policy Analyst will provide data and specialized studies to answer these and many educational policies issues as well as support a wide variety of analytic tasks and special projects that require a very high degree of independence, excellent analytic skills, and sound judgment. This individual will also prepare complex briefings on highly sensitive issues for use by senior administrators, presentations to the Board of Regents, and legislative hearings. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred in social science, business, higher education administration or similar discipline requiring coursework in computer programming, research design, statistics, and data analysis. Extensive experience with statistical software packages, especially SPSS or SAS. Experience with relational databases, professional presentation software, and desktop computing hardware, software, networking, and project management. Objectivity, discretion, tact and the ability to work well under pressure with constantly shifting priorities and deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others and to function well as a team member. Excellent writing and editing skills. Salary/Benefits: Starting salary range is $44,084 - $50,000, commensurate with experience, knowledge and skills.
