Job Duties: Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the successful candidate will provide technical and statistical support for a broad range of data analysis and assessment and be responsible for extracting, cleaning, integrating, aggregating, displaying, and disseminating data in multiple formats from university data collections for managers, researchers, and other stakeholders; will maintain, develop, and coach staff using application software as required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Accesses, links, and provides data from university data systems to users while assisting to guide& champion University’s data-related efforts. 2. Designs, constructs, and develops relational data systems & processes, integrates existing data collections, & continuously improves functionality. 3. Draws raw data from dynamic files for subsequent manipulation, integration, dissemination and archival storage from sources like Student & Course Records, Human Resource Data, and Financial Aid Data. 4. Develops state-of-the-art processes and formats for reporting & disseminating data, with paper and web-based or other electronic formats as required. 5. Assists to maintain and upgrade department’s computing hard and software, backup systems, and data security. 6. Other related tasks, as necessary or assigned.
Principle Accountabilities: 1. Maintains current knowledge of useful software and hardware processes and products for data architecture and information processing. 2. Produces accurate data collections and files for use by institutional stakeholders. 3. Transmits aggregated data sets in various modes to recipients as necessary. 4. Maintains full documentation on data collections within the department and on campus. Qualifications: Required Specialized Knowledge and Experience: 1. 4-year college degree in computer science or information systems including formal training in relational database theory, architecture, & practice. 2. Training and experience in visual basic and other object-oriented programming (web and application). 3. Expert knowledge of specific high-end applications & functions. 4. Work experience in designing database-driven report, integrating data from diverse sources, and compiling and extracting flat files from complex relational databases. 5. High-level fluency with MS Access and Excel, Oracle, & Crystal Reports 6. Able to use database management programs to query & extract data from external sources; merge data from diverse sources into working flat-files.
Preferred Skills & Software Experience: 1. Skilled with web survey & web applications design; able to write program scripts to manipulate data sets and write object-oriented programs (visual basic). 2. Familiar with basic descriptive statistics (frequency distributions, central tendency, cross tabulation; percentages). 3. Able to create & explain output tables & graphics (bar graph, histogram, line graph, etc.) 4. Familiar with either SPSS, SAS, or STATA statistical software 5. General understanding of flow, pert, Gantt, Venn & organizational charts & diagrams.

Self-starter; task oriented problem solver attentive to details and data anomalies 3. Superior analytical & organizational skills; understands business purpose of data systems 4.
