Job Title: MEETING PLANNER - Association for Institutional Research, Tallahassee, FL Deadline Date: Open Until Filled Starting Date: ASAP Institution: Association for Institutional Research Job Duties: AIR is currently seeking applicants for the position of Meeting Planner. This position is part of the Meeting Planning team responsible for all activities related to event planning for the national Forum, member committees, the board of directors, conferences and workshops. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to multi-task and be responsive to customer needs. The Meeting Planner will report directly to the Senior Meeting Manager.
Responsibilities include: * Manage assigned projects in the area of meeting/event planning for a variety of meetings, conferences and workshops.
* Track budgets to ensure revenue and expenses are kept within established boundaries and reconcile event bills.
* Ensure all logistical details including room set-up, audio visual, transportation, housing, and food and beverage for meetings are planned effectively.
* Participate in contract negotiations and evaluations with a variety of vendors for meetings.
* Participate in the strategic planning process for all meetings and events to ensure continual improvement and quality customer service.
* Monitor timelines for multiple events.
* Assist in developing relationships with association members and workshop instructors.
* Other duties as necessary to contribute to the overall success of the Association. Qualifications: Required Qualifications & Experience: * Direct work in special event or conference planning * Direct work with a series of national, regional, or local meetings * Contract negotiations with national hotels and vendors * Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel * Demonstrated excellence with verbal and written communication skills * Bachelors degree * Certified Meeting Planner or qualified to take CMP exam, or equivalent experience * Availability to travel to at least 3 workshops or meetings per year * Availability to work some evenings and weekends Salary/Benefits: up to mid $30k, depending on experience To Apply: Please submit a resume and cover letter via the electronic submission process.
