Outreach Analytics and Reporting (OAR) has an exciting job opportunity for a bright, self-motivated individual who is interested in working in a collaborative, productive, and diverse team environment as a Data Analyst. The successful candidate will retrieve and analyze data from various data sources to help meet and inform reporting needs for Penn State Outreach and Online Education. S/he will utilize data to coordinate and track progress on key organizational performance indicators and to assist stakeholders in making decisions related to strategic planning. S/he will prepare standard and adhoc reports, compare consistency of data against other data sources, apply stringent QA processes to ensure accuracy, and identify/recommend process changes to ensure data integrity. The successful candidate will assist with the creation, distribution, and analysis of online surveys, perform quality assurance checks, and grant access to survey reports through a sophisticated in-house survey system. S/he will maintain a schedule of customized and recurring surveys and collaborate with OAR's evaluation team. Requirements include experience querying database servers using Microsoft Access or an equivalent software, creating and distributing surveys with an online survey software, and proficiency in Excel for manipulating and displaying data, including the use of pivot tables and charts. Experience with data visualization tools is also preferred but not required. Competencies critical to success in this job are effective organization and project management skills to meet multiple deadlines and attain results; proven attention to detail and problem solving skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills, and strong interpersonal skills. We seek candidates who are able to demonstrate experience and ability to advance Outreach's diversity initiative. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
