Title: Analytics Officer

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Analytics Officer, under the supervision of the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, will serve as the primary point of contact at the institution for research, data analysis and reporting. The Analytics Officer will be responsible for integrating data from different internal and external sources to execute robust and meaningful statistical models, including predictive analytics and data visualizations. In addition to overseeing institutional research and reporting, the Analytics Officer will be responsible for the development of MCC's emerging data warehouse, assuring the integrity of institutional data quality through a college-wide governance process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• As data steward, maintain data integrity and oversee the college-wide data governance process.
• Working with the chosen vendor, oversee the development of the college's data warehouse including training and support for various parts of the college in the use of analytics tools.
• Develop predictive models for student support/advising, enrollment, financial aid, academic affairs, and other areas of the college.
• Support academic and administrative assessment with data analysis as requested.
• Develop institutional reports in support of enrollment management, accreditation, self-study, performance indicators, grants, and other efforts to measure effectiveness.
• In collaboration with academic and administrative areas, develop key institutional measures of student success
• Work with academic and administrative departments to plan and prioritize research activities.
• Provide data support to academic affairs, enrollment management, human resources and finance.
• Manage institutional research personnel and all of its functions including supervision of the submission of federal, state and local mandated reporting.
• Prepare and administer budget for the office of institutional research.
• Serve on appropriate committees and represent the College as requested.
• Maintain a strong ethic of customer-service.
• Represent the college to the Department of Higher Education and other external entities.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintains current knowledge of trends and practices in the field through peer association, attendance at seminars, study, and review of literature.
• Maintain the highest levels of customer-service.
• Performs other related duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Supervises the Institutional Research personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Middlesex Community College's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; managing the operations of the IR office including planning, assigning, and overseeing work; performance appraisals; conflict resolution.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Normal office environment, not subject to extreme variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc. May use computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. May involve attendance at evening meetings. More than half of time spent in normal office setting.

QualificationsRequirements:
Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or a related field; or equivalent experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Five (5) or more years of experience in applied statistical analysis with ability to design research studies for use in educational and social environments.
• High levels of proficiency with manipulating large relational data bases, merging data from multiple sources.
• Ability to develop and maintain an institutional data dictionary reflecting multiple data sources and changing definitions over time.
• Ability to independently execute all phases of research, including extracts from the student information system, data management, statistical analysis, and communication of findings.
• Ability to develop robust statistical models, including predictive analysis, that can be applied to the educational environment to support student learning and success, as well as administrative decision-making.
• Expert level proficiency in at least one statistical software product, such as SAS, SPSS, Python, or R.
• Experience with institutional research and student information systems such as Datatel or Banner.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations.
• Ability to communicate research findings to different audiences, including faculty and staff, Cabinet, and Trustees.
• Ability to establish, manage and evaluate departmental goals, objectives and performance plans.
• Ability to recognize college-wide priorities, and to work collaboratively with people to set and achieve college goals.
• Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the community college.
• Project management and the ability to train staff.
• Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in computer science, statistics, or applied mathematics
• Working knowledge of Tableau reporting
• Higher education experience
• Bilingual skills

Additional Information:
This is a non-unit administrative position under the Non-Unit Personnel Policies Handbook.
Salary Range: $75,000 to $95,000 per year
Non-Unit Professional Grade: 8
Location: Lowell Campus with travel to the Bedford campus and occasionally off-site.
