Job dutiesSUPERVISES: Shared functional supervision of clerical support and professional staff.

SUMMARY: Under general direction design, coordinate and implement solutions which transform internal college data into meaningful and useful information used to enable more effective strategic, tactical and operational insights and decision making.
 
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

1. Identify and lead projects which create systems for timely, accurate, useful data-driven decisions and metrics.
2. Design, develop and implement business intelligence solutions such as reports, dashboards and data warehouses.
3. Assist staff in identifying reporting metrics which support operations and attainment of college goals and objectives.
4. Collaborate with Information Technology Services staff in BI projects. Identify barriers and recommend solutions for security, data integrity, self-service, definition and policy issues which limit analysis and functionality of required information.
5. Design and deliver BI training, direction and support to IRE staff and college's functional users. Promote the use of BI tools.
6. Participate on College and state-wide committees.
7. Other duties as assigned.
 

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
1. Thorough knowledge of research techniques (e.g., advanced data analysis tools such as SAS, SPSS; advanced statistical trend analysis, research principles and methodologies).
2. Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in using business intelligence tools with large databases (e.g. Cognos, SQL, querying, data warehousing, ETL (extract, transform and load), data modeling) to develop solutions, reports, and assure data integrity.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software.
4. Ability to read, understand and follow technical manuals and procedural documentation.
5. Proven ability to effectively communicate complex analytical information and recommendations to non-technical staff.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Presentation skills a plus.
7. Ability to train users on analytical tools and provide feedback preferred.

Education and Experience Requirements:

1. Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Management or related field.
2. Three years of related experience with emphasis on business intelligence working with large databases and an ERP system.
3. Prior experience with business processes in an educational institution is preferred.
Salary range$60,000 - $80,000
Salary benefitsPosition Information:
This is a full-time, 12-month per calendar year position. Hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Salary is listed at the 2017-2018 rates.

Interviews:
Selected candidates will be invited to interview on September 8, 2017. Out of state candidates, or candidates more than 100 miles from WCTC can choose to attend, or will have an option to use Skype. All candidates who are invited to second interview MUST be in person. Travel will be reimbursed up to $300.00 (for the second interview only).
