Job dutiesSummary:
The Dean of Institutional Research, Effectiveness and Strategic Planning plans, organizes, designs, coordinates, supervises and implements the Strategic Planning process, comprehensive institutional research, effectiveness, reporting, and assessment activities for the college. Serves as the Accreditation Liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Supervises designated Institutional Research and Effectiveness and Research and Analytical Services departmental staff.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leads the Strategic Planning process for the college, including plan development, implementation, and evaluation of institutional progress towards the Strategic Plan outcomes.
2. Provides leadership for the development of strategic initiatives aimed at increasing student access, success, and completion, or that otherwise achieve organizational goals and objectives.
3. Promotes an efficient and effective decision-making process based on cohesive, coherent, and complete understanding of available data and information.
4. Creates and executes an effective 5-year operational planning process that clearly defines organizational objectives and tactics.
5. Integrates Strategic Planning, Strategic Initiatives, 5-Year Operational Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Planning into a cohesive and aligned process.
6. Provides leadership for a variety of projects relating to institutional and program evaluation, institutional research, institutional effectiveness, and reporting.
7. Provides oversight for the collection, maintenance and distribution of institutional data and information.
8. Works collaboratively with other departments to connect strategic planning, budgeting and measurable institutional objectives.
9. Ensures the integrity of data, analysis, and reporting methodologies in conjunction with the Information Technology department and institutional data owners.
10. Provides administrative oversight and support for the ongoing development of data collection and analysis systems to support the review of academic and non-academic programs and the assessment of educational and institutional effectiveness.
11. Designs and implements systems to improve campus-wide access to data.
12. Ensures that data and information are available to meet the decision-making needs of the College at all levels.
13. Serves as the Accreditation Liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), including supervision of the ongoing reporting, and related site visits.
14. Makes appropriate recommendations to assure that data analysis and research results are applied to institutional improvement.
15. Supports approved faculty and departmental research.
16. Maintains current knowledge of technological developments in areas of responsibility.
17. Maintains membership and service to local, state, and national organizations related to the functions of the position.
18. Supervises designated Institutional Research and Effectiveness and Research and Analytical Services departmental staff.
19. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Education and Experience:
1. Master’s Degree in Statistics, Education, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Information Technology, Psychology, Social Science or a related research field required; Doctorate preferred.
2. At least five (5) years of experience in research, evaluation, planning, or higher education administration required.

1. All applicants are subject to a national criminal background check under South Texas College policy.
2. Security Sensitive position: In addition, subject to federal background check.
3. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
Salary rangeDependent on qualifications and experience
Salary benefitsMinimum Salary: $73,000.00
