Institution descriptionThe Learning Assessment Specialist will assist academic programs and units to design and implement effective and sustainable assessment practices with a primary emphasis on student learning assessment.
Job duties1.Manage and maintain collaborations with program assessment personnel to provide feedback and assessment support
- Work collaboratively with the Deans of the four colleges and the Assistant Vice Provost for teaching, learning and technology to develop and support assessment initiatives
- Consult and assist with training on student learning outcomes assessment and academic degree program assessment
- Collaborate with college Deans and Associate Deans to review annual Departmental and programmatic assessment plans and reports, summarize findings for the Provost and provide feedback and support to Chairs and Directors
- Work collaboratively with faculty to facilitate and assist with student learning assessment in academic programs
- Collaborate with the Vice Presidents, Deans, Department Chairs, faculty, and staff to foster a culture of evidence that will support data based decision-making and continual improvement
2.Provide direction and support for assessment of equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives
- Support assessment related to the University's voluntary agreement with the Office of Civil Rights of the US Department of Education
- Support assessment related to the University's continuing commitment to its ADVANCE Grant-related activities to support women faculty in STEM fields
- Work collaboratively with the Vice Provost for Academic Diversity, Compliance Office, the Office of Academic Outreach, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and other University offices with regard to diversity-related assessment
- With related offices, coordinate and support assessment of the campus climate as well as equity, diversity and inclusion efforts
3.Analyze qualitative and quantitative assessment data and prepares summary reports for distribution internally and to institutional accrediting agencies
- Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research, Office of the Registrar, Library and Technology Services, and various other support services to assessment and reporting
- Evaluate assessment reports and generate feedback documents to facilitate improvements to the programs and refinements in their assessment practices
4.Oversee the documentation and recordkeeping of assessment efforts
- Provide leadership in collating data regarding institutional effectiveness, planning, and decision-making
- Facilitate the development of standards-based tools to gather assessment data
- Develop and manage a permanent repository for assessment reports
5.Identify optimal data collection tools and methods
- Gather and summarize resources and materials on best practices in assessment and curriculum design
- Facilitate assessment workshops and meetings to help faculty and staff refine assessment practices
- Oversee technologies and data collection procedures necessary for program review
- Participate in professional development, and share information on national and regional best practices or emerging trends in assessment with university colleagues through periodic training or other communication
Qualifications1.Master's Degree in Education, Learning Assessment, Curriculum Design or a closely related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
2.Doctorate degree preferred
3.Three to five years related work experience
4.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
5.Solid writing ability and organizational skills
6.Solid analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
7.Solid computer skills with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software
8.Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, county and national criminal background checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance. Based upon the requirements of the position Lehigh may also request credit history reports, motor vehicle checks and professional license/certification verification
