Institution descriptionCalifornia State University San Marcos seeks a Business Intelligence Analyst (Analyst/Programmer - Career) in Institutional Planning & Analysis. The Business Intelligence Analyst reports to the Assistant Director, Institutional Planning & Analysis, under general management of the Director. The Business Intelligence Analyst designs, develops, and implements business intelligence solutions that meet the business needs of IP&A and enhance the university's long-term decision support capacity. This position works collaboratively with IP&A colleagues and stakeholders to understand business decisions and resulting outcomes, defining and documenting requirements for data structure, integration, reporting, and analysis. This includes building out, managing, and maintaining database tables, views, and other objects utilized by IP&A. The Business Intelligence Analyst regularly queries data from PeopleSoft and other campus systems to inform IP&A projects and initiatives. This role also utilizes innovative data visualization and analytic tools to build self-service reporting solutions that facilitate stakeholder access to data insights.

QualificationsMinimum Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field and at least two years of progressively responsible experience in database design and administration, programming and query-writing, report development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred

• Experience in an academic or university setting.

Salary and Position Status

• Full-time, probationary position with benefits.

• CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,372 - $9,877/month

• Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,372 - $5,834/month
