Job dutiesPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applicants for the newly created position of Senior Research Associate housed in the Student Affairs Research and Assessment Department. The department is responsible for facilitating and coordinating the research and assessment related activities within the Division of Student Affairs and select university wide initiatives through a variety of campus partnerships. The department also coordinates and supports strategic planning and institutional effectiveness measures across the division. In total, these responsibilities facilitate the development and active use of data in the decision making process that is not limited to measuring operational effectiveness but includes reflections on the active student learning processes and other related measures of student success both inside and outside the classroom.
Reporting to the Director of Student Affairs Research and Assessment, the Senior Research Associate will assume leadership in research and assessment activities to advance the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and the department in addition to the design and implementation of research and assessment projects on Student Affairs programs and services at the Division level, and will oversee hands-on assistance with department and unit level assessment, research and evaluation.
Specifically, the Senior Research Associate will provide coordination and expertise in designing, implementing, and interpreting assessment, evaluation, and research projects including, but not limited to: learning, programmatic, and operational outcomes, student retention and success measures, integrated institutional and divisional research data sets, program evaluation, satisfaction and benchmarking, participation in national assessment instruments, reaffirmation (accreditation) support, research being conducted by individuals and work groups within the Division of Student Affairs, and project specific assessment related to the Division’s strategic and tactical operations. The work of the Senior Research Associate requires a high level of effective collaboration within and outside of the Division of Student Affairs.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree (doctoral degree preferred) in an area related to assessment and measurement, statistics, student affairs, higher education, education research or other research-oriented discipline related to assessment and evaluation, statistics, or social science in addition to five to seven years of experience in a higher education setting; professional practice in or collaboration with Student Affairs with assessment, evaluation, and/or research as their primary position responsibility.
Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree in an area related to assessment and measurement, statistics, student affairs, higher education, education research or other research-oriented discipline related to assessment and evaluation, statistics, or social science in addition to seven to ten years of experience in a higher education setting; professional practice in or collaboration with Student Affairs with assessment, evaluation, and/or research as their primary position responsibility.
