Job dutiesThis position promotes institutional capacity for effective and meaningful outcomes assessment efforts and promotes common understanding and value in the use of assessment. Support the use of assessment results for unit/department improvement and institutional effectiveness and broader use of general education and institutional learning goal assessment data. This position leads and manages assessment processes at institutional, department and program levels. This position is also responsible for institution’s participation in all aspects of annual Tennessee Higher Education Quality Assurance Funding requirements. QualificationsRequired minimum qualifications
• Master’s degree required from an accredited college or university in a relevant discipline.
• Three years of experience in evaluation, assessment of student learning outcomes, and institutional effectiveness in higher education
• Demonstrated experience managing and leading academic assessment activities at the institutional, departmental, and/or program levels.
• Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies as well as of assessment and evaluation theories and practices.
• Documented experience in survey design and methodologies.
• Documented experience in a leadership/management role. Effective academic administrative skills. Possess strong management skills and ability to oversee a diverse team, coordinate work, and plan for the future. Be able to effectively guide/lead others in successful completion of tasks and projects.
• Demonstrated organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Excellent listening, decision-making and consensus-building skills. Must be adept at working with diverse populations and be able to communicate complex information effectively to university and external constituents.
• Understanding of key issues in higher education and the culture and dynamics of higher education. Understanding of the operations, organizational structure and decision-making processes of colleges and universities.
• Demonstrated effective experience with project planning and project management, prioritizing assignments, meeting deadlines and working in project groups.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to focus on quality assurance.
• Possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.
• Ability to work independently while overseeing multiple and complex projects.
• Ability to effectively multi-task
• Approach work with a high level of energy, motivation, persistence, and a positive attitude, in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• A background check will be required for the successful applicant.
Preferred qualifications:
• Doctorate earned or in progress
• College or university teaching experience
• Significant understanding of accreditation principles, with an emphasis on SACSCOC.
• Proficiency with statistical packages and Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrated success working effectively with senior leadership
