Job Duties

Position is open until filled.

1. Integrate data from disparate systems into a central data repository in support of data reporting, analysis, and visualization.

2. Develop data visualizations using diverse sets of structured and unstructured data.

3. Produce sound statistical findings and communicate findings in meaningful ways.

4. Actively participate in the Texas State University data governance program by assisting with the development of data standards, data governance policies, data quality assessment, and data cleansing efforts.

5. Test software/database enhancements, upgrades, and new releases.

6. Consult with stakeholders to determine reporting needs and develop solutions to meet requirements.

7. Build and maintain effective working relationships with functional area subject matter experts.

8. Assist with project management and process documentation.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. Working knowledge of relational database architecture and data warehousing.
2. Ability to develop queries and functions in SQL and/or PL/SQL.
3. Experience with data management, quality assessment, and cleansing.
4. Familiarity with process documentation.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop strategies in support of data and reporting needs.
6. Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau or Power BI).
7. Ability to research new technologies and recommend technical solutions to management.
8. Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and effectively support users in a professional manner.
9. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing tasks.
10. Knowledge of statistics.
11. A bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience with Ellucian Banner or similar higher education data information system.
2. Previous experience preparing and analyzing data in a university environment.
3. Experience with higher education data (IPEDS and THECB).
4. Proficient in Tableau (Developer, Server, Public).
5. Working knowledge of server maintenance.
6. Experience with statistical software (e.g. SPSS or SAS).
7. Working knowledge of Atlassian project management solutions.
8. An advanced degree beyond the bachelor’s level.
