Job Duties

Holy Names University in Oakland, CA is seeking a Director of Institutional Research.
The Director of Institutional Research is responsible for the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of institutional data necessary to inform decisions, policy and planning at the University level in a timely and effective manner.
The Director will build upon the existing research and planning capacity at Holy Names University by building an infrastructure to deepen the institution’s analytical capabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
• Process institutional data (collecting, cleaning, recoding, organizing, extracting, analyzing, and summarizing data) for internal use, consortia use (i.e., HEDS, ACM, WAICU), external surveys (i.e., U.S. News and World Report, college guidebooks, rankings) and government and agency compliance reporting (e.g. CDS, IPEDS, NCAA).
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of regular and ad hoc reports and publications (i.e., Profile, Fact Book, and consortia/state/federal reports).
• Establish standards and processes for documentation, presentation, and quality review of IR team deliverables by leading the institutional data governance committee.
• Respond to time-critical internal and external ad hoc requests for institutional information and analyses.
• Conducts complex statistical analyses of data and prepare analytical reports and institutional dashboards using KPIs.
• Seek and validate data, including outside benchmarks or comparative data, to support or refute institutional decision-making processes.
• Develop, administer, and manage surveys; prepare reports from internal surveys (i.e., climate surveys, alumni surveys, student surveys).
• Oversee and manage the Institutional Research webpage/landing page.
• Support grant development by assisting with writing and reporting, conducting research, and preparing and maintaining documentation.
• Support the coordination and implementation of evaluation, accreditation and assessment activities related to institutional strategic planning.
• Represent the Office of Institutional Research at regional and national meetings, conferences, and workshops.
• Supervise a part-time Institutional Research analyst.
• Conduct other duties as requested/assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, Statistics, or related discipline. Doctorate preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in higher education, and an understanding and appreciation of liberal arts institutions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and strict deadlines while maintaining high degree of accuracy.
• Sensitive to confidential matters and able to exercise a high level of discretion and judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative skills.
• Extreme attention to detail.
• Proven project management, organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Advanced proficiency in SPSS and/or R, and Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Experience with data visualization software (e.g. Power BI, Tableau), and National Clearinghouse services (i.e. Student tracker) a plus.
• Understanding of how to use data to advance equity initiatives, and a dedication to the social justice mission of the institution.
• Ability to work some evenings on occasion.
