Institutional Research Analyst

Job Duties

Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Research, the Institutional Research Analyst is responsible for gathering data, preparing reports, analyzing data and statistics, and managing institutional data and technologies in support of institutional research, planning, and evaluation activities. The analyst will coordinate all aspects of external data reporting, including preparing datafiles for analysis, collecting data from administrative offices, and ensuring data accuracy. In addition, the analyst will produce internal reports for academic and administrative units by coordinating the publication of the annual Fact Book, analyzing census data, and compiling historical trend data. Additional job responsibilities include: organizing institutional data and information by extracting data from the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, web-based software applications, and external data sources; administering and analyzing institutional surveys; and managing institutional technologies for office and campus use by administering users, permissions, and functions.

Job Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree. A Master's Degree preferred in Higher Education Administration, Educational Research, Social Sciences, or a related field. Prior experience (1 -2 years) conducting research and/or data analysis in a higher education setting as well as knowledge of research methods is required. Excellent computer skills, especially with statistical software, spreadsheets, survey software, web-based software, and data visualization are also strongly preferred; good communication skills, in both oral and written form, are necessary as is the ability to interact in a professional manner with students, administrators, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and have good problem-solving skills.
