Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the Data Specialist works collaboratively with university leadership, data stewards across campus, and staff to coordinate the use of data and reporting. This position also prepares data and statistical information to internal constituents for planning, improvement, and assessment. The Data Specialist uses statistical methods and common research techniques, and assists with reporting to external agencies.
REQUIRED: Demonstrated experience in Excel and computer programming languages including SQL (Structured Query Language). Strong problem solving, project management, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
PREFERRED: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of relational databases including Oracle and Access. Use of the Banner systems including the Operational Data Store (ODS). Skills and experience in SPSS, statistical analysis, predictive analytics, and data visualization techniques. Experience in higher education.
