Data Visualization Analyst

Application Procedure:

Job Duties

  1. Develops dashboards for institutional research and university divisions
  2. Gathers requirements from university units for data presentation requests
  3. Makes large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable and usable
  4. Transforms, improves and integrates data based on business requirements
  5. Combines the data result sets across multiple sources (also known as the data federation)
  6. Delivers data in a useful, understandable and accessible manner to users
  7. Responsible for completing Ad hoc surveys, reports and/or presentations as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of reporting analytics solutions (Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics)
  • Working knowledge of SQL and data extraction methodologies for metric development
  • Proficient in statistical software (SAS, SPSS or R)
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
  • Excellent quantitative, analytic and data skills
  • Experience in querying and analyzing data using SQL, MS Access, SAS, Tableau, etc.
  • General knowledge in data collection and analysis techniques
  • Proven ability to present information in a clear concise manner verbally and in writing
  • Skilled in writing procedures, guidelines and application documentation
  • Understands organizational rules and regulations
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of data sources, database, design, and development logic and constructs, especially as related to data warehouse technology
  • Able to download, merge, manipulate, analyze and report on large amounts of complex data
  • Able to look at numbers, trends, and data and come to new conclusions based on the findings
  • Able to handle with multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
