Institutional Research Analyst
The University of Vermont Office of Institutional Research is looking for a technical-minded person to join our staff as an Institutional Research Analyst. The analyst will use SQL and other database skills to gather data from Banner and PeopleSoft to support internal and external requests and prepare data for use in a data warehouse-like environment. Experience with data visualization and business intelligence software like Tableau is preferred. A more thorough job description follows.
The Office of Institutional Research produces work in support of the academic management, fiscal management, planning, policy, and reporting activities of the University of Vermont as a whole and of its multiple components, especially the academic colleges, schools, departments and programs. The individual in this role will extract, organize, maintain, analyze, interpret, report, and distribute faculty, student, and curricular information. They will collect and submit federally mandated faculty, staff, student, and course related data for the U.S Department of Education Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System(IPEDS). They will perform projects in addition to the reoccurring data gathering, analysis, and reporting functions. This position reports to the Director of Institutional Research.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two to four years’ related experience required. Knowledge of SQL query writing, statistical/spreadsheet software, and business intelligence or data visualization tools required. Experience with relational databases required. Experience in data related activities of a complex organization using multiple data bases required. Effective communication skills required.
