Research Associate

Job Duties

The Research Associate works collaboratively with other members of Institutional Research & Market Analytics (IRMA) and Marketing Strategy to provide primary research for strategic enrollment planning and marketing strategy decision-making and support with secondary research projects. This position also works collaboratively with other university offices on a range of joint research efforts.

  • Coordinate and execute all aspects of primary survey research projects for strategic initiatives, market strategy projects, student experience initiatives, and career outcomes, working collaboratively with IRMA members and across departments university wide.  

  • Work collaboratively with various offices across the university to develop research projects and report findings.  

  • Use knowledge of Qualtrics, Excel, SPSS, survey research, market research, and data visualization to manage all aspects of these projects, from design to reporting. 

  • Lead efforts to build students' awareness of and engagement in survey research, promote surveys with student audiences, and develop targeted communications and reports for student audiences.  

  • Work collaboratively with Student Affairs and other areas on this initiative. 

  • Coordinate the design, development, execution and reporting of secondary research projects, working collaboratively with IRMA colleagues and across departments university wide.  

  • Manage all aspects of secondary research projects using data from internal systems, external databases (such as IBHE, NCES, ACT, IPEDS and sources of labor market data), and knowledge of Excel, SPSS, market research, and data visualization.

  • Provide support for ad hoc information requests.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 3-5 years' experience in quantitative data analysis or data support role conducting relevant research.

Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree.

  • Degree in business, marketing, social sciences, public policy, OR demonstrated equivalent knowledge and on-the-job experience.

Other Skills & Abilities Reqd
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of survey research. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of secondary research. 

  • Strong skills in related software such as SPSS, SAS, MS Excel, MS Access, Power Point, Tableau. 

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently to achieve outcomes.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to both analyze and draw policy implications from various types of data.  

  • Ability to lead team projects to achieve outcomes.
