Job Duties

Reporting to the vice president of academic affairs, the director of institutional research works closely with senior leadership at the College to provide data, analysis and recommendations to support strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, resource allocation and decision-making.  The director coordinates all institutional research, non-academic assessment, and has oversight for all institution-wide surveys/studies related to institutional assessment. The director also supports the development of departmental surveys and conducts market research and environmental scanning to support College initiatives.  The director works with administrative departments to develop goals and assessment plans, and to utilize institutional data and the results of assessment/research to improve performance toward goals using the TracDat assessment management system.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications include a master’s degree, a minimum of 5 years of successful experience in higher education institutional research and assessment, proficiency with survey design and statistical analysis, including knowledge of statistical software packages, and familiarity with Colleague or other higher education software systems. The successful candidate should possess creative problem-solving skills, skill in designing, conducting, and communicating the results of research, an understanding of the major issues of higher education and the institutional issues of small colleges, the capacity to utilize information to frame institutional planning and decision-making, the ability to work extended hours as needed, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
