Research Analyst

Job Duties

This is a research position in the Office of Institutional Research. The position is responsible for carrying out diverse research projects using student and college data, utilizing a variety of analytical and evaluative procedures and with minimal supervision.

The job involves qualitative and quantitative analyses of data, examination of related and unrelated situations, drawing conclusions, devising solutions and alternatives and making recommendations in a timely manner to support institutional planning, policy formulation and decision making. The position engages in examination of internal and external data sources to study performance indicators and student outcomes data, and writes reports (with graphs/tables or other visuals) to present and communicate the data in an effective and informative manner. Using data, the position advises, supports, makes recommendations and acts as a consultant to college administration, committees and other constituencies.

Job Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge and application of research techniques, methodology, statistical analysis and interpretation; considerable skill in PC applications as a resource tool; demonstrated ability to lead and conduct research projects and apply analytical and evaluative techniques, formulate conclusions and recommendations; excellent analytical, writing and communication skills are required. Also, the candidate will have extensive knowledge of data sources and appropriateness and ability to manage various research functions, prioritize and delegate tasks, and ensure the quality of work produced. Knowledge of research methods and statistics; superior analytical and organizational skills; exemplary oral and written communication skills; Experience in organizing and leading research projects. Working knowledge of research techniques and methodology; experience conducting literature review; compiling and organizing data collected from various sources; performing qualitative analysis; interpreting and summarizing data; developing research reports to translate data into easily understandable format using visual tools and narrative; demonstrated ability to lead and conduct research projects and apply analytical and evaluative techniques, formulate conclusions and recommendations to support policy decision making; excellent analytical, writing and communication skills; ability to manage various research functions, prioritize and delegate tasks, and ensure quality of the work produced.
