Job Duties
Position Summary:
The data manager plays a crucial role in the use of data for reporting and assessment. The position provides data support for the assessment, survey, and IR units and responds to data requests from across the NJIT community. The associate director ensures that New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) data assets are effectively managed, secured, and leveraged to support NJIT's goals and objectives. Under the direction of the Executive Director for Institutional Effectiveness (OIE), the Associate Director of Data Management is responsible for designing and managing the OIE SQL Server/Snowflake data repository, oversees data extraction, transformation and loading of the data from Oracle (Banner) to the data repository. The Associate Director performs data gathering and extraction to maintain, analyze and report measures from NJIT's data system for internal and external survey publications, state and federal data reporting systems, and ad-hoc data requests for institutional data, statistical analysis, and institutional assessment for internal and external sources, as well as data visualization. The associate director is particularly critical for responding to unusual or complex data requests requiring deep knowledge of data structures and/or definitions. The position will also coordinate responses to particularly challenging external surveys including the HERD, AAUP, and GSS surveys. The associate director also provides a quality control review of outside surveys such as U.S. News, or Times Higher Education that a data analyst will prepare.

Job Qualifications
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Master's degree in computer science, or quantitative analysis and higher education.
- Technically solid, understanding of databases design, data modeling, data warehouse, data integration and data quality.
- Solid background in SQL Programming, familiarity with Python and/ or R a necessity.
- Experience with data management, databases such as Oracle, DW Snowflake, SQL Server, data analysis, data integration tools such as Informatica, SSIS, Talend and data visualizations tools such as Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy, SSRS.
- Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, be able to manage teams of data analysts, and solve complex problems.
- Knowledge of higher education and technology trends and technologies.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
