Job Duties
This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Data and has full accountability for responding to requests for institutional information and for the submission of data to external entities. The incumbent has expertise in the core responsibilities of the Office and uses best practices in determining data and analysis. This information will be used by senior leadership to make informed decisions about the environmental context in which the University operates including peer institutions.
1. Lead and Direct the Institutional Research function on a day-to-day basis, manage the staff and maintain a cycle of regular institutional studies and reports, archival data and key indicators to support the recurring decision-making needs of the University (25%)
2. Lead and direct research projects conducted through the institutional research function in support of the University Strategic Plan and inform decision makers about the environmental context in which it operates (25%)
3. Advise senior leadership and staff on matters related to institutional research, create innovative methods for the analysis and presentation of information for use in strategic planning and decision making, and have thorough knowledge and expertise of institutional data including policy, usage, and integrity (25%)
4. Fully responsible for responses to requests for institutional information; responsible for the submission of data to external sources as required by government agencies, accrediting agencies, consortiums and publishers (25%)
Job Qualifications
Master's Degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Education, Economics, Statistics, or other quantitative oriented discipline; Doctorate Degree is preferred
Eight or more years related work experience
Experience collecting and using data to solve problems
Superior quantitative and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to create successful working relationships with a variety of team members and stakeholders
Critical thinking and decision making
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and a high degree of initiative for bringing tasks to completion
Excellent computer skills with experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
