Job Duties
The Director of Faculty Analytics works in the office of Institutional Research and Planning (IRP) at The Ohio State University and leads a new focus area: Faculty Analytics. IRP provides accurate, timely, consistent, and actionable data and integrates analytics across multiple domains (student, faculty, human resources, fiscal, research, facilities, and more) to support evidence-based decision making at The Ohio State University. IRP provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction in building a data-informed decision culture at The Ohio State University by championing and collaborating with campus stakeholders in broadening data sharing, data governance, actionable insight development, operational effectiveness, and professional skill development. We engage in institutional research, official reporting, institutional effectiveness activities, data visualization, survey research, assessment and accreditation data support, mixed-methods research, and advanced analytics to enhance the success and learning of our faculty and students as well as overall university and operational effectiveness. We also promote culturally responsive and inclusive institutional analytics and assessment practices that consider the increasingly diverse student, faculty, and staff populations we serve.
The Director of Faculty Analytics is responsible for leading and conceptualizing a new area focused on analytics and reporting of faculty data. The Director of Faculty Analytics reports to the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research and Reporting. The position extracts and models data from trusted sources, prepares reports, and conducts advanced statistical analysis and research to solve problems and provide actionable insights for university decision-making in the following areas: faculty retention; institutional performance benchmarking; faculty development program evaluation and planning; salary equity and compensation studies; faculty workload studies and interactive reports; faculty survey research and climate studies; AAUDE data exchange submissions related to faculty; designing interactive visually appealing reports on faculty hiring, separations, retention, promotion, and demographics. Engages in advanced statistical modeling, predictive analytics, projections, forecasting, data mining, use of thick data (quantitative and qualitative), machine learning, learning analytics and employing analytics through an equity lens. Using SAS, R, and SPSS to prepare data and perform various statistical analyses for different projects. Uses advanced analytics and reporting to provide insights for executive leadership as well as key decision makers throughout the institution, with a focus on reporting and analytics support to inform OSU strategic planning and business operations.

Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required:
- Master’s degree in social science, education, or a person-related research field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least 5 years of experience in extracting and modeling data from trusted sources, conducting advanced statistical analyses, survey research, program evaluation/assessment, and data analyses and visualization (in Tableau or other data visualization platforms).
- Expertise in advanced statistical modeling, predictive analytics, projections, forecasting, data mining, use of thick data (quantitative and qualitative), machine learning, learning analytics and employing analytics through an equity lens. Skilled in using statistical tools such SAS, R, and SPSS to prepare data and perform various statistical analyses for different projects
- Possesses an understanding of faculty issues in higher education settings.
- Mixed methods research designs and qualitative data analysis: familiarity with NVIVO
- Survey Research Methods expertise.
- Program evaluation and assessment expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to extract and model data from several datasets and sources.
- Data extraction expertise; SQL experience: MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server (reporting services).
- Demonstrated experience creating insights from data analyses and visualization platforms/dashboards using large data sets, preferably in higher education settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
